Who buys printed parchment cups

High street bakeries use them to tell their cupcakes apart from supermarket ones. A printed case is the first thing a customer notices when the cake sits in a box or a window.

Cafés buy them for muffins and traybake squares sold at the counter, where a branded case does the job of a label. Wedding and party caterers order them for dessert tables where a cake needs to look finished without a plate.

Home bakers who sell at markets order smaller runs too. A case with a name on it makes a stall look like a proper business, and it sits well beside the rest of our food and dessert cup range.

  • Independent bakeries and patisseries
  • Cafés selling muffins at the till
  • Wedding and party dessert caterers
  • Market stall and online bakers
  • Sweet shops boxing truffles and fudge

Pleated cases or tulip wraps

The pleated case is the familiar cupcake shape. Its folds let it open slightly as the batter rises, and it peels away cleanly once the cake has cooled.

Tulip wraps are taller, with straight or lightly pointed sides that stand above the cake. They give a muffin a café look and leave more room for print.

If you sell both cupcakes and muffins, many bakers order pleated cases for one and tulip wraps for the other. It keeps the two products easy to tell apart on a crowded counter.

Sizes for every bake

Parchment cups are sized by how much batter they take rather than by drink volume. The oz figure is a quick way to compare one case with another.

A 2oz case suits mini cupcakes and petits fours, while 3oz covers a standard cupcake. Muffins and larger bakes need 4oz or 6oz so the top can rise properly.

If you bake in a specific tin, send us the cup diameter of the tin. We will match the case to it, and odd sizes can be quoted separately. Our UK guide to cup sizes explains how oz figures compare.

Choosing a colour

White cases show printed colours clearly, so they suit bright logos and pastel patterns. They also look fresh under lemon or vanilla sponges.

Chocolate brown hides crumbs and butter marks after baking. It is the safer choice for dark sponges, brownies and anything with a sticky glaze.

Kraft has a rustic, unbleached look that matches farm shops and organic bakeries. Print sits a little softer on kraft, so a bold one-colour logo works best.

If you are unsure, order a small run of two colours and see which one sells better in your window. Many bakers end up using white for celebration cakes and brown for everyday bakes.

Printing on a pleated case

A pleated wall folds in and out, so fine detail can break up across the folds. Use a simple mark, a short name or a repeating pattern rather than a long tagline.

Tulip wraps are flatter and take more detail, including small text and a web address. Either way, keep key artwork away from the base where it will be hidden by the tin.

We print full colour CMYK or Pantone. If you want a feel for spacing before you commit, our guide on designing artwork for curved cups covers the basics.

Baking with printed cases

Tell us how the cases will be used when you ask for a quote. Cases going into the oven need a different paper from cases used only for display.

We will confirm the right paper for your bakes in writing. Food-contact board is available on request, which most bakers ask for as standard.

Run a test batch from your first box before a big event. Ovens differ, and it is better to see how your recipe behaves with a new case early. Note the bake time and shelf position that worked, so staff can repeat it.

Pairing with other dessert packaging

Parchment cases are often one part of a wider dessert order. A café selling cupcakes might also need cups for trifles, mousses or fruit pots.

For spoonable puddings, our printed paper dessert cups carry the same artwork in a firmer cup. Matching the two makes a dessert counter look planned.

Keep the logo size and colour the same across both items. That way a customer recognises your brand whether they pick up a cake or a pot. One proof can cover both pieces if the artwork is shared.

Ideas for seasonal runs

Many bakers keep a plain branded case all year and order a short seasonal print on top. Easter pastels, Valentine's hearts and Halloween pumpkins all work on parchment.

Wedding orders can carry the couple's initials in gold-toned Pantone. It is a small touch that photographs well on a dessert table.

Plan seasonal runs early. With production at 4 to 6 working days after proof approval, a week or two of buffer keeps your launch calm.

  • Easter pastels on white cases
  • Valentine's hearts on pleated cups
  • Halloween prints on brown cases
  • Initials for wedding dessert tables

Mistakes bakers make with cases

The most common one is ordering a case that does not match the tin. A loose case sags and a tight one creases, and both spoil the finish of the cake.

Another is choosing white for a dark chocolate bake. Grease and cocoa can show through, so brown is usually the better fit.

Some bakers also put a long phone number on a pleated case. Short text reads much better across the folds.

Quotes, proofs and delivery

Printed parchment cases start from £0.25 per cup, and your written quote confirms the exact figure. Pricing moves with size, style and the number of colours.

Design support is included, and we revise your digital proof until you are happy with it. Delivery is tracked, takes 2 to 3 working days and costs nothing to the UK.

To get prices for your bakes, start a parchment cup order and tell us your tin size and quantity.

If a box arrives wrong

Check your cases when they land, before they go near an oven. Misprints or damage reported within 10 days, with photos, are reprinted or refunded.

Our returns and reprint policy sets out how to send those photos. Keep the outer carton until you have checked a few sleeves.

If something looks off in the proof stage, say so then. Changes are free before approval and far quicker than a reprint.

Parchment Paper Cups questions

Are parchment paper cups the same as cupcake cases?

Yes, they are the same idea. We print them in pleated cupcake style or as taller tulip wraps for muffins.

Can printed parchment cups go in the oven?

Tell us they will be baked in when you request a quote. We will confirm a suitable paper for oven use in writing before you order.

Which size case fits a standard cupcake tin?

A 3oz case suits most standard cupcake tins. Send the cup diameter of your tin if you want us to check.

What is the difference between pleated and tulip cases?

Pleated cases are short with folded sides. Tulip wraps stand taller with straight sides and give more space for print.

Will grease show through white cases?

Rich or chocolate bakes can show through white parchment. Brown cases hide butter and cocoa marks far better.

Can you print a pattern instead of a logo?

Yes. Repeating patterns work especially well on pleated cases because they still look right across the folds.

Do you make parchment cases for sweets and truffles?

Yes. The 2oz size suits truffles, fudge and petits fours in gift boxes.

Can I order seasonal designs?

Yes. Bakers often order Easter, Valentine's or Halloween prints alongside their standard branded cases.

Is the paper suitable for food contact?

We can supply food-contact board on request. Most bakers ask for it as standard on their quote.

How long do printed parchment cases take?

Production runs 4 to 6 working days from proof approval. Your tracked parcel then reaches you in 2 to 3 working days.

Can my cases match my dessert cups?

Yes. We can print the same artwork on parchment cases and paper dessert cups so your range matches.

What if the print is wrong when the cases arrive?

Send photos within 10 days of delivery. Misprinted or damaged cases are reprinted or refunded.

What are parchment paper cups?

Parchment paper cups are thin, grease-resistant cases that hold a cake, muffin or sweet while it is baked, displayed and eaten. They come pleated like a classic cupcake case or with straight tulip-style sides. We print them to order for bakeries, cafés and caterers.
