Why the extras matter as much as the cup

A great cup with the wrong lid is a bad cup. Customers judge a takeaway drink by whether it leaks, whether it burns their fingers and whether they can carry four of them back to the office.

The products on this page solve those three problems. They are ordered alongside your cups, so the sizes line up and the branding matches.

You can add one extra or all five to a quote. Each appears as its own line, so you can see what each one adds to the cost.

Extras matter most when your cups are the lightest kind. A single wall paper cup for everyday drinks usually needs both a lid and a sleeve before it leaves the counter, while thicker walls need less help.

  • Cafés with delivery app orders
  • Office catering and meeting rooms
  • Drive-through and roadside stops
  • Event bars serving rounds of drinks

The full range of cup extras

Five products sit in this group. Two are about the single cup, and three are about carrying several.

Covers are the odd one out, because they replace plain board with a print that runs from rim to base.

Most cafés end up with lids for every size and one carrying option. Sleeves and covers depend on the wall and the look you want.

If you only add one extra, make it lids.

Lids that fit the first time

Lid fit is about the rim, not the ounce number on the box. Two cups that both say 12oz can have different rims, and a lid that fits one may pop off the other.

That is why our paper cup lids matched to your rim are sized against the exact cups in your order. You choose the style and the colour, and we match the diameter.

Black lids suit dark and kraft cups, while white lids suit white or pastel designs. Pick the one that looks right with your print.

Count lids by size, not in one lump. If you sell twice as many regulars as larges, order lids in the same ratio so one size does not run out first.

Dome lids need a little more planning, because they sit higher and take more room in a carrier or delivery bag.

  • Sip-through lids for coffee and tea
  • Flat straw-slot lids for cold drinks
  • Dome lids for cream, foam and toppings

Sleeves: comfort plus a second print space

A sleeve is a paper band that slides over a hot cup. It keeps hands comfortable on a single wall cup and puts your name right where fingers rest.

Our printed paper cup sleeves come in kraft or white board and are sized to 8oz, 12oz, 16oz and 20oz cups. They are a cheaper way to brand plain cups, too.

Some cafés keep plain single wall cups and print only the sleeve. It is a good option if you change your message often, because a new sleeve run costs less than new cups.

Sleeves also give seasonal designs a home. A Halloween or Valentine's sleeve on your usual cup changes the look for a few weeks without a full reprint.

Carrying a round of drinks

Anyone who has carried four coffees across a car park knows the problem. Holders and carriers keep drinks upright and free up a hand for the door.

For bigger rounds, card cup holders with a centre handle take two, four or six cups. The handle panel carries your logo, which is seen by everyone in the queue behind.

Holders work best with lidded cups. An open cup in a holder will still slosh on the first step.

Think about where your customers go next. Office workers carrying rounds up in a lift need a holder far more than a café where everyone sits down.

Two-cup carriers for cars and desks

Not every order is a round. Plenty of customers buy two drinks, one for them and one for a colleague or partner, and carry them to a car or desk.

Our slim two-cup card carriers are made for exactly that, with an upright or wrap-over handle. They fit cups from 8oz up to 20oz and store flat until needed.

The broad front face is a good print space. A simple logo and a short line about your shop work well there.

Drive-through and roadside stops get through more carriers than most. If many of your orders are for two drinks, budget for a carrier with each one.

Covers for designs that wrap the whole cup

A standard printed cup can leave small plain areas near the rim and base. A cover closes those gaps, with print running the full height and the full way round.

That makes full wrap paper cup covers a good fit for illustrated designs, Valentine's or Easter themes and patterns that need every millimetre.

Covers suit white board best, because the colours print bright. They fit standard lids for the matching cup size.

Because the print reaches the rim, check the artwork near the top edge on your proof. Lettering placed too high can disappear under a lid.

How to order extras with your cups

Ordering extras alongside cups is simpler than ordering them later, because the sizes are already confirmed. These steps keep it straightforward.

Our team helps with layouts for sleeves, holders and carriers at no charge.

Send artwork for every printed extra at the same time as the cups. That way one proof round covers the whole order and nothing waits on a late file.

  1. Confirm your cup sizes and wall types first.
  2. Pick a lid style and colour for each size.
  3. Decide whether single wall cups need sleeves.
  4. Choose holders or carriers if customers buy more than one drink.
  5. Send artwork for any printed extras along with your cup artwork.
  6. Check each item on the free digital proof and approve.

Mistakes that make extras a waste

The biggest is buying lids from one supplier and cups from another. Even a millimetre of difference can mean lids that leak or will not press home.

Another is adding sleeves to double or ripple wall cups. Those cups already protect hands, so the sleeve becomes decoration rather than a fix.

Finally, check carrier and holder sizes against your largest cup. A 20oz cup in a carrier made for 12oz will tip.

If you want hands-free comfort with no sleeve at all, double wall cups that need no sleeve are often simpler than adding a band to every drink.

  • Lids and cups from different sources
  • Sleeves on cups that do not need them
  • Carriers sized for the wrong cup
  • Dome lids on drinks without toppings

Price, proofs and delivery for extras

Extras are quoted with your cups, and cup prices start from £0.25 each. Your written quote lists every lid, sleeve, holder, carrier or cover on its own line.

Printed extras get a free proof just like the cups, and we revise it until you approve. Production then takes 4 to 6 working days, and delivery is tracked and free anywhere in the UK.

Misprinted or damaged extras are covered the same way as cups. Send photos within 10 days and we put it right with a reprint or a refund.

If you are not sure which extras you need, our guide to lids, sleeves and carriers walks through the choices drink by drink.

Can I get lids for cups I bought elsewhere?

We can only promise a match against cups we supply, because rims vary between makers. If you need lids for existing cups, send the rim size and we quote to it.

Which lid colour should I choose?

Black lids suit kraft and dark designs, and white lids suit white or pastel cups. Both come in sip, straw-slot and dome styles.

Do I need sleeves on double wall cups?

Usually not. Double and ripple wall cups already keep hands comfortable, so sleeves are mainly for single wall.

Can sleeves be printed on both sides?

The print runs across the outer face of the band, front to back. Your proof shows exactly where the artwork falls.

How many cups does a holder take?

Our cup holders are made for two, four or six cups, with a centre handle.

What is the difference between a holder and a carrier?

A carrier is a slim card piece for two drinks. A holder is a folded card tray with a handle for larger rounds.

Can carriers take large iced drinks?

Yes, carriers fit cups from 8oz to 20oz, including cold cups with dome lids.

What is a paper cup cover?

It is a full wrap print that runs from the rim to the base of the cup, with no plain gaps.

Can I order extras without cups?

Yes. Send us your cup sizes and rim measurements, and we quote sleeves, lids or carriers to fit.

Do extras get a free proof?

Yes. Every printed extra gets a free digital proof, revised until you are happy.

Are carriers and holders printed in full colour?

Yes, both can be printed in full colour CMYK or a Pantone shade.

How are extras delivered?

They ship with your cups on the same tracked delivery, free anywhere in the UK.
